The story
Ci Siamo, at 440 W. 33rd St. in New York City, is an Italian kitchen built around live-fire cooking, and it earned a Michelin Recommended listing in 2026. The room sits in Manhattan West, where the menu pairs housemade pasta with a robust Italian wine list.
Executive chef Hillary Sterling draws on her extensive travels in Italy. The menu stays simple and seasonal, with each preparation built for a clear purpose. Ci Siamo is part of Danny Meyer's Union Square Hospitality Group, and Sterling has published a debut cookbook, Ammazza!
Grilled ribeye comes with watercress, mustard and salsa verde, and the wood-fired whole trout arrives with pine nuts and mustard greens. Pasta is made in-house. Cavatelli allo scoglio is served with crab, chili and vermouth, while rigatoni alla gricia brings guanciale and black pepper. Cast iron focaccia with tomato conserva makes a good place to start. The Italian wine list earned a Wine Spectator Best of Award of Excellence in 2022.
Floor-to-ceiling windows frame views of the Empire State Building. The restaurant offers several private dining options, along with a private bar and an adjacent outdoor terrace. Those spaces suit group dinners and occasions that call for a quieter table.
