The story
Aquavit, at 65 E. 55th St. in New York City, serves contemporary Scandinavian cooking and holds two Michelin stars in the 2026 guide, recognized for excellent cooking. The restaurant occupies the Park Avenue Tower in Midtown, between Park and Madison Avenues.
The menu follows the seasons and draws on Nordic tradition. The kitchen pairs that tradition with new techniques and ingredients. Midsummer dishes include a lunch, a picnic kit and a smörgåstårta, and a Herring Festival is returning to the calendar this summer.
Guests can dine in the main dining room or the bar room. A separate private dining space hosts parties and events, and the restaurant also offers catering. The room is air-conditioned and wheelchair accessible. The wine list earned Wine Spectator's Best of Award of Excellence in 2014.
