The story
Rosie Cannonball, at 1620 Westheimer Road in Houston, serves Italian-leaning European food from a wood-burning oven and grill. Michelin gave it a Bib Gourmand in 2026 for good quality, good value cooking.
Chef de Cuisine Melven Batocabe runs a menu of pastas, pizzas and hearty vegetables built on seasonal ingredients. Simple seafood and locally sourced meat take their turn over the flames. The kitchen calls it comfort food, and the contemporary European framing leaves room for both Italian and French ideas.
Master Sommelier June Rodil's list leans toward Italy, Spain and France, and it earned a Wine Spectator Award of Excellence in 2020. Cocktails follow the same French and Italian lines. Pastry chef Micaela Victoria's desserts include a warm Basque cheesecake with bitter orange marmalade and a honey cake with burnt honey and crème fraîche gelato.
