The story
Evelyn's serves modern Mediterranean and Middle Eastern cooking at 525 N. Fort Lauderdale Beach Blvd., Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and earned a Michelin Recommended distinction in 2026. The restaurant sits on the waterfront, where the Levant-inspired kitchen cooks with Florida's seasonal produce and seafood.
Chef Brandon Salomon leads the kitchen. He grew up on Long Island, New York, in a family of cooks, and he started working in his grandparents' bakery at 12. His career took him through acclaimed restaurants and hotels in New York, Florida and San Francisco before Fort Lauderdale. The cooking uses Levantine techniques, with pomegranate, sumac, za'atar and saffron appearing across the menu.
Dishes are built for the table. The grand mezze brings smoked eggplant, charred red pepper, classic hummus and stone-fired pita. The seafood tower combines Maine lobster, Key West pink shrimp and tuna crudo with harissa cocktail sauce. Grilled whole branzino is finished tableside, a theatrical touch borrowed from a mid-century steakhouse.
The dining room has plush blue couches and wall-to-wall windows, and the atmosphere is relaxed rather than formal. The shaded patio is the place for sunset views before dinner. The bar earned a Wine Spectator Best of Award of Excellence in 2025 for its list of more than 300 selections, and the cocktails, such as the Third Wife with Aleppo pepper and cucumber, carry the same Mediterranean character.
