The story
Georgia Boy, at 1043 Ponce de Leon Ave. NE in Atlanta, is a Michelin Recommended (2026) contemporary American tasting menu served as a single, fixed experience. The room sits behind Southern Belle, and the kitchen is the focal point of the evening.
James Beard nominated chef Joey Ward founded the restaurant and writes the menu. His tasting explores the cuisine of the South through an inventive and colorful lens. Dinner runs 14 to 16 courses over roughly two to two and a half hours.
The menu is a blind tasting and is not released in advance. Guests with allergies or dietary restrictions can note them when booking, and vegan, vegetarian and pescatarian versions are available.
Guests sit together at a communal high-top table in the Georgia Boy kitchen, with the chefs preparing each dish in plain view. Seatings hold up to eight guests, so the room tends to feel social and close.
Eater Atlanta described Ward as the city's "Willy Wonka" chef, a nod to the Roald Dahl theme that runs through the room, including golden tickets inscribed with the evening's menu tucked into chocolate bars.
Curated wine pairings and a non-alcoholic pairing can be added to the tasting menu. Wine director Elliot McMichael oversees the pairings, and pastry chef Kristia Paz leads the sweet courses.
