The story
Legacy is the Modern British restaurant inside The Grand on Station Rise, York YO1 6HT, and it holds three AA Rosettes for 2026.
Executive Head Chef Kevin Bonello previously led the kitchen at De Mondion, a Michelin-starred restaurant. Head Chef Ahmed Abdalla has run the pass since Legacy opened in autumn 2022, and he builds dishes around Yorkshire produce so the season sets the flavours. The restaurant has since appeared in The Telegraph's list of the 14 best restaurants in York.
Dinner is a tasting menu, with a vegetarian version alongside it. Sommelier Derek Scaife chooses the wines to match. The menu takes its inspiration from three periods of York's past: Roman Eboracum, Viking Jorvik and the city as it is today. The room is intimate, and children are not accommodated.
