The story
Crab House Café sits on Ferryman's Way, Portland Road, Wyke Regis, Dorset DT4 9YU, and serves British seafood in Weymouth. The Good Food Guide listed it as a Local Gem in 2026, and its seafood kitchen works from the day's landings.
The oyster beds sit just offshore from the restaurant, so the oysters reach the table within minutes of leaving the water. Most of the fish comes from boats working between Chesil Beach and Brixham, and nearly all of it is landed within about 40 miles of the door. The menu changes with those landings, so the fish on any given night depends on what the boats brought in.
The dining room is a relaxed, unfussy space with outdoor seating and views over the Portland coast. The kitchen has cooked whole plaice with anchovy butter and Somerset cider onions, and hake with cashew pesto and truffle-scented mushrooms. Portland brown crabs are the dish most people come for, and children can order fish and chips.
