The story
Àclèaf is a modern British restaurant in Plymouth, at Boringdon Hill, Plympton, PLYMOUTH, Devon, PL7 4DP, inside the Elizabethan manor house of Boringdon Hall. It holds one Michelin star (2026), and its seasonal four-course dinner menu is built around carefully sourced produce.
Scott Paton leads the kitchen, and the house approach is simple: the best ingredients, cooked honestly and served plainly. The team calls this truth with elegance. The AA has awarded the restaurant four rosettes (2026). Each plate centres on one main ingredient, with playful touches that nod to nostalgia.
Early courses might bring goat's cheese with brambles and pecans, or squab with dates and preserved lemon. Venison with prunes and beetroot and Highland wagyu au poivre with parsnip show the heavier side of the menu, with the wagyu served as a whole-table speciality. The duck comes from Creedy Carver Farm in Devon, and dessert might be vanilla, bergamot and star anise.
The dining room occupies a former minstrel's gallery above the Great Hall, with well-spaced tables dressed in linen. The Creative Director, Gayle Nettleton, chose branch wall lights and statement chandeliers, and the artwork uses Royal Horticultural Society prints. The wine list leans English, and paired flights are matched course by course. Cheese comes from a board of local and French selections.
