The story
The Mariners in Padstow, at Slipway, Rock, PL27 6LD, is a British pub kitchen with views over the Camel Estuary and two AA Rosettes for 2026. The Michelin Guide also recommends it for the same year. The pub has served its local community since the mid-1990s, and the menu keeps a pub's easy rhythm while cooking with local produce.
The kitchen's core is pub food: a hearty Ploughman's and the Mariners Burger, which regulars return for. Alongside these sits a specials menu that changes with the seasons. Fine ales from Sharp's Brewery are poured at the bar, so the drinks suit the food without much fuss.
Seasonal Sunday lunches run from early October to the end of June, served from noon to 5pm. The roasts come with Cornish vintage cheddar cauliflower cheese and red wine gravy. The roast Cornish Dexter sirloin of beef is joined by a mushroom, beetroot and cashew pithivier for vegetarian guests. The meal ends with 'The Mariners' spotted dick, served with rum and salt caramel and a proper vanilla custard.
