The story
Tendril is a plant-first kitchen and bar at 5 Princes Street in Mayfair, London, and holds a 2026 AA Rosette for culinary excellence. The menus are built around vegetables, with set and à la carte options through the week and brunch on Saturdays and Sundays.
Rishim Sachdeva founded Tendril in 2019 after a Veganuary challenge, and he still calls himself a meat eater who occasionally wants real cheese. That is where the "mostly" in the name comes from. His cooking draws on technique from The Fat Duck and the restraint he picked up at The Diary in Clapham. The food is described as un-fussy but precise, with the produce doing most of the work.
The kitchen uses nearly every part of what it buys. Cauliflower stalks become kimchi, trimmings go into long ferments, and beetroot tops appear in salads. Pickling juice finds its way into cocktails. The wine list changes regularly and focuses on vegan bottles from small European producers, with kombucha, drinking vinegars and low-intervention spirits alongside. Set menus can be paired with wine, matched course by course.
