The story

Motorino, London: Stevie Parle and Luke Ahearne's London-Italian restaurant

Motorino at 1 Pearson Square, London W1T 3BF, is an Italian restaurant run by Stevie Parle (Town, Pastaio) and chef Luke Ahearne, and it appears in The Good Food Guide 2026.

Fewer dishes, well sourced

Ahearne, a Michelin-starred chef formerly of Lita in Marylebone, keeps the menu tight. Start with the focaccia, served with pistachio pesto, aged balsamic and whipped butter, or with salumi from Coombeshead Farm. Larger plates include chopped dexter beef with fermented green chilli and porcini ketchup under a pile of shoestring fries, and a 35-day Hereford flank with chianti or peppercorn sauce. The National Restaurant Awards placed Motorino at number 99 in 2026.

The room

Burgundy, yellow and wood wall panels run through the ground-floor space, and the open kitchen shows through a pill-shaped opening. The building stands on the former Middlesex Hospital site. Three private dining rooms (Red, Green and Studio) seat groups from 8 to 28.

Drinks at the bar

Bar Motorino pours seven draught beers and a compact cocktail list that includes an olive negroni and a Dill Boy Martini. The wine list, mostly European, runs from £38 to £180. A quick lunch from £28 is the lighter way in.

The Good Food Guide — Good

A collaboration between Stevie Parle (Town) and Luke Ahearne (previously of Lita), Motorino brings ‘London-Italian’ cuisine to a large space on the ground floor of a residential-retail development on the former site of the Middlesex Hospital. With glossy burgundy, yellow and wood wall panels, plus an open kitchen visible through a pill-shaped opening, the look is either ‘a touch futuristic’ or has the feel of 'a retro showroom’, depending on your viewpoint. The menu follows the classic Italian format of snacks, starters, excellent pasta, generous mains and dolci. Bring friends, and make sure you order the focaccia with pistachio pesto, a drizzle of aged balsamic, whipped butter and olive oil. We thought it was terrific. Great cocktails and a well-curated wine list that's strong on Italy and France make drinking here 'a joy', but if you're worried about a hefty bill, consider the 'quick lunch' (from £28) as an alternative point of entry.
