The story
Lady of the Grapes is a French restaurant and wine bar at 16 Maiden Lane in London, where the kitchen works in a modern French bistro style. The restaurant received a Wine Spectator Award of Excellence in 2025, and its wine list focuses on organic, biodynamic and natural bottles.
Head chef Matyas Plzak runs the kitchen, which cooks seasonal French bistro food from high-quality local ingredients. The menu draws on classic French ideas and adds contemporary touches. The AA awarded the restaurant 2 Rosettes in 2026 for culinary excellence.
The menu is written for sharing, and the kitchen suggests two to three dishes per person. Expect Carlingford oysters with mignonette, brandade croquettes topped with trout roe, and lobster tartelettes with bisque and bottarga. The charcuterie and cheese boards bring in French, Italian and Swiss producers, including Rosette de Lyon and Sanglée des Couardis.
