The story
Clos Maggiore, a French restaurant at 33 King Street in London's Covent Garden, holds Three AA Rosettes (2026) for its contemporary cooking and its conservatory dining room.
The kitchen sources seasonal and local produce where it can. Seafood comes directly from UK fishing boats, lamb from the Welsh mountains and poultry from a family-run smallholding in Lancashire. The à la carte has included Isle of Orkney hand-dived scallop with peas and XO sauce, and roast line-caught halibut with brown shrimps. For dessert, a 70% Nicaraguan chocolate soufflé comes with Jersey milk ice cream.
The conservatory is blossom-adorned in summer, when it opens to alfresco dining, and turns warm and glowing once winter arrives. The first-floor private dining room seats up to 18 guests and can be dressed to suit a celebration or a quieter evening for two.
The wine list runs to over 2,000 selections from 27 countries and earned the Wine Spectator Grand Award (2014). Coravin lets guests pour rare and older vintages by the glass. The cocktail list gives extra attention to non-alcoholic options.
