The story
The Gallery Restaurant sits on Church Lane in Baslow (DE45 1SP), inside The Cavendish Hotel, where a modern British kitchen earned 3 AA Rosettes in 2026. Executive Chef Adam Harper builds the menus around Derbyshire produce, with a focus on what is in season.
Adam Harper oversees the food at The Cavendish and works closely with Chatsworth gardeners and farmers. Suppliers from the estate and its surroundings supply much of what reaches the kitchen. The restaurant also holds a Michelin Recommended mark for 2026, which reflects the same close attention to local sourcing.
The restaurant names its producers rather than offering a general promise of local food. Trout comes from Ladybower Fisheries, cold pressed rapeseed oil from Bakewell's Brock & Moreton, and pork from the family run Moss Valley Farm. Knowing where each ingredient comes from makes it easier to order with confidence.
The dining room takes its name from the art on its walls, with paintings and drawings of favourite views across the estate. Dinner is served Monday to Sunday from 6pm to 9pm, Sunday lunch runs from 12:30pm to 4pm, and afternoon tea is served Monday to Saturday. The Gallery can also be booked privately for up to 42 guests.
