The story
The Schelly, a small-plates kitchen at 3 Old Stamp House, Church Street, Ambleside, won a Michelin Bib Gourmand in 2026 for good-quality, good-value cooking. Chef-owner Ryan Blackburn runs the room from directly above the Old Stamp House.
The menu offers simpler versions of the dishes served at the Old Stamp House, alongside plates inspired by Blackburn's interest in culture and travel. The restaurant says every dish uses the best produce available. The kitchen also holds 2 AA Rosettes for 2026.
The Schelly seats up to 30 guests. A table for larger parties sits close to the pass, so diners can watch the chefs cook at close range. The wine list draws on small-scale growers from across the UK and Europe, sold by the glass or bottle and chosen by Blackburn's sommelier team.
