The story
Calipso Fish is a Mediterranean seafood restaurant at Küçükyalı, Cumhuriyet Cad., No:2 in Maltepe, listed as Recommended by the Michelin Guide in 2026. Hakan Veli Şahin and Ziya Kaçar founded it in 2014.
Wild greens get their own section of the menu, with glasswort, wild parsley, lamb's ear, mallow and nettle among the options. The set menus open with four regional herbs. The kitchen says it cooks with olive oil, lemon and fresh fish, with no additives. Gault&Millau gave the restaurant 12.5 in 2026.
Cold mezes range from marinated sea bass and smoked anchovy to several cheeses. Hot starters include fried calamari, shrimp casserole and monkfish skewers. The fish list covers sea bass, grouper, dentex and red sea bream. Guests often single out the fish meatballs and a fish simit with raspberry sauce. Desserts run from soufflé and baked halva to panna cotta.
Diners describe a bright, glass-walled room, and the restaurant has outdoor seating, parking and valet service. The Calipso Bar keeps a long rakı list, including Yeni Rakı, Tekirdağ and Efe Gold. Set menus pair the meal with local wines or rakı, then tea and coffee.
