The story
Sankai by Nagaya serves contemporary Japanese kaiseki and omakase at Cevdet Paşa Cad. No:34 in Bebek, Beşiktaş, Istanbul. The Michelin Guide awarded it one star in 2026 for high quality cooking.
Chef Yoshizumi Nagaya, born in Gifu, runs the kitchen alongside Edo-mae sushi chef Hiroko Shibata. Their 24-seat omakase pairs Edomae nigiri, built on the idea of using fish from local waters, with the multi-course discipline of kaiseki. Fresh Turkish seafood meets Japanese technique. Gault&Millau scored the restaurant 15 in 2026.
There are two seasonal tasting menus. Sankai Sushi leans toward nigiri, while Nagaya Signature follows the kaiseki tradition. Every guest on a reservation eats the same menu, chosen at booking. The room, designed by Geo-ID, aims for the feel of a Japanese home.
