The story
Liman İstanbul serves modern Turkish cuisine at Meclis-i Mebusan Sokak O2 Blok No:8 in Galataport, Beyoğlu, Istanbul. Gault&Millau awarded it 12.5 for 2026.
Dr. Rebii Gorbon designed the original Liman in the 1940s, on the upper floor of the Karaköy Passenger Terminal. In 1953, Silvian Fontana, who had also cooked for Atatürk, became head chef. Over the next fifteen years he built a Western-style service that was new to Turkey, with starched white linen, silver cutlery and porcelain plates. The name returned to Galataport in 2021 under the D.ream Group.
The current kitchen pairs traditional Turkish dishes with touches from world cuisine. Expect soups, shared plates, stone-oven and open-fire meats, pastas and fish. Regional desserts arrive in a contemporary presentation.
