The story
Sühring in Bangkok is a contemporary German restaurant at 10 Yen Akat Soi 3, Chongnonsi, Yannawa, and it holds three Michelin stars (2026). Brothers Thomas and Mathias Sühring cook from family recipes in a 1970s villa they renovated themselves.
Thomas and Mathias Sühring first learned fermenting, pickling, smoking and curing on their grandparents' farm. Those old-school methods still run through the kitchen. The restaurant opened in March 2016 and pairs traditional German dishes with contemporary Central European influences.
The seasonal menu has included scallop with pumpkin and kelp and Kagoshima A5 wagyu with kintoki carrot and oxtail. Spaetzle finished with Périgord truffle shows the German side of the menu most directly. Guests choose among four settings: a homely Dining Room, a Kitchen with a view of the twin chefs at work, a garden-facing Glass House, and a Living Room for up to eight guests upstairs.
