The story
Azalée, at Dorfstrasse 14 in Zürich, is a classic French restaurant that earned 15 points from Gault&Millau in 2026. The fine dining room belongs to a family-run hotel, and the kitchen has passed from one generation to the next.
Yasmin and her partner Johannes now run the house, after Michel and Carole von Siebenthal guided the change. Johannes knows the kitchen from his years as sous chef. The traditional favourites remain on the menu, among them mushroom ravioli, veal fillet and eglifilets.
The newer addition is a vegetarian tasting menu. A deconstructed tomato, shaped into a ring and served with sea buckthorn sorbet, made a convincing cold starter. A tofu dish wrapped in savoy cabbage, with sweet potato, cranberry cream and puffed rice, was a strong showing for vegetarian cooking. A corn tartlet was less successful, since it lacked flavour without the green chili it promised.
