The story
Eden - Belle Époque is the restaurant of the Eden hotel at Seestrasse 58 in Thun, serving Swiss and Mediterranean cooking. Gault&Millau awarded it 13 points for 2026, and the kitchen is now led by chef Martin Strehle.
After several chef changes, Martin Strehle has settled into the kitchen, and the menu reflects it. The à la carte keeps Eden classics such as a Luma burger, Wiener Schnitzel, a club sandwich and Alpine salmon, alongside a three-course sharing menu and an evening card that changes daily. The reviewers noted that the team kept service smooth even with a full house.
The meal opened with a Spiezer Weinsuppe, a wine soup with walnut and apple that the reviewers found flawless. Thin-walled ravioli filled with chanterelles and apricot sat in a tarragon velouté. Yellowfin tuna ceviche came with ginger mayonnaise, watermelon and red onion for heat, and the Entrecôte double was served with port jus and a parsnip and potato purée. Dessert was a panna cotta with cherries and almonds.
