The story
Kreuz in Luzern, at Dorfstrasse 8, is a country cooking restaurant that Gault&Millau rated 14 points for 2026. Christine and Michel Simitsch have hosted guests here since 1998, serving traditional Swiss fare with a seasonal menu.
Reviewers who visited in winter began with a lamb's lettuce salad topped with Périgord truffles. A quail fried egg rested on Beluga lentils, garnished with tomato and artichoke. The risotto with mushrooms and regional cheese was coloured with beetroot and carried a splash of Chasselas.
The main course that stood out was veal tongue, a dish the reviewers note is seldom served today. It came with a caper sauce, kohlrabi, cherry tomatoes and potato purée. The kitchen also offers a stroganoff in a cognac and paprika cream sauce, served with crisp fries.
A set weekday lunch runs Wednesday to Friday and includes soup, a salad and a main course. It costs 22 francs in the café or 28 francs in the dining room. The à la carte menu changes with the seasons if you want something else.
A shaded terrace called La Terrasse offers outdoor seating. The house also prepares banquet menus for groups. Michelin lists the restaurant as Recommended for 2026, and Kreuz is a member of the Swiss Guild of Restaurateur-Cooks.
The sorbet is made with apricot and basil liqueur and is served alongside homemade pretzels. The wine list is large, with crus from Switzerland, France and Italy.
