The story
Perroquet Vert is a French café and bistro at Zentralstrasse 15 in Biel/Bienne, rated 13 points by Gault&Millau in 2026. The guide calls it a "Petit Paris" on a Swiss street.
The interior is Belle-Époque, with patron Patrik Mürner working the floor in a béret and waistcoat. The waiters dress in black and white. Beyond the café itself, the house has a red salon and a blue salon, plus terraces on the courtyard and by the fountain.
The French bistro cooking is announced on a slate, as it should be. Gault&Millau described a celery mousse with radishes as an amuse-bouche, then lightly marinated salmon with fresh horseradish, dill mustard, butter and toast. Smoked beef comes with cheese shavings. The inspectors singled out a quail stuffed with foie gras, served with seared duck liver and fried potatoes. Dessert was a pair of large macarons filled with ice cream and cream. The wine list is well assorted.
The kitchen runs from croissants and coffee through lunch, afternoon tea with pastries, aperitifs and dinner. It also serves late after the cinema and handles banquets. Michelin lists the address as Recommended for 2026.
