The story
ZOE sits at Münstergasse 39 in Bern's old town, where the kitchen cooks modern cuisine without meat. Michelin awarded it one star in 2026, and the menus follow seasonal, regional produce in a fine dining format.
Chef Fabian Raffeiner leads the kitchen, and vegetables take the centre of every plate. The evening menus come in three routes, Discover, Essence and Journey, and the courses are only revealed at the table. Every menu is vegetarian and can be served vegan with short notice. Lunch offers a seasonal business menu and longer gourmet menus.
Gault&Millau awarded ZOE 15 points for 2026. Its reviewer praised a crisp tartlet with crème fraîche, pickled shallot and radish, and a cannelloni filled with roasted Jerusalem artichoke. The salsify, cooked in broth and served with confit egg yolk, nut butter hollandaise and a vin jaune beurre blanc, was singled out as the high point of the evening. The same review found the buffalo ricotta tortellini a little muted and the chocolate dessert overcrowded.
