The story
Mille Sens in Bern serves international and seasonal cooking at Spitalgasse 38, in the Schweizerhof-Passage. Gault&Millau awarded the restaurant 15 points for 2026, and the Michelin Guide lists it as recommended for 2026.
Chef Domingo S. Domingo, a Filipino chef, runs the kitchen under the concept "Les goûts du monde", a menu built on dishes from many countries. Gault&Millau describes a kitchen that starts with respect for the product and then works hard on detail. When a guest asks about a dish, the team will explain it, and the chef has been known to take diners into the kitchen to walk through fermentation, spices and sauces.
The house classics include the Speck Adobo, a tuna poke that stays on the menu, and a tavolata. The seasonal menu changes with the calendar. Winter brings preserved foods, spring brings the first asparagus and rhubarb, and kid goat appears at Easter. Reviewers have singled out a tuna steak with a matching tatar, a lentil salad with fried goat cheese, and a pork loin served with six vegetables. The portions are generous and the plating is unfussy, which suits a kitchen that is not chasing trends.
The dining room is elegant and air-conditioned, with a wine list that runs to nearly 40 pages. The fine dining wine list won silver at the Swiss Wine List Award 2025. Guests who want to learn the cooking can book a Domingo pur cooking course, which starts with a market visit on Bern's Märit and ends with a shared meal.
