The story
SK Mat & Människor, at Johannebergsgatan 24 in Gothenburg, is a modern cuisine restaurant that earned one Michelin star in 2026. The restaurant is built around Swedish food traditions and seasonal produce from nearby.
The kitchen has no walls, so the cooks prepare food in the middle of the intimate dining room. Guests can ask the chefs about a dish directly, and sometimes the cooks bring a plate to the table themselves. The approach draws on Swedish culinary heritage and ingredients from the local area.
The menu rotates around roughly ten dishes, and guests can choose a four-course or six-course tasting menu. Recent plates include skrei with roasted Jerusalem artichoke and preserved elderflower, and Almnäs Tegel with green tomato, vanilla and star anise. Wine pairings come in four or six glasses, with standard or premium options.
