The story
Lasarte, at Mallorca 259 in Barcelona, holds three Michelin stars in the 2026 guide. It serves fine dining inside the Monument hotel, with Martín Berasategui as director and Paolo Casagrande at the stove.
Casagrande was born in Susegana, near Treviso, and joined Berasategui's team in 2003. He took over as head chef at Lasarte in 2012, and the third star arrived in 2017. The cooking moves between Catalonia, the Basque Country and Italy, and between the Mediterranean and Cantabrian seas.
A crustacean ravioli arrives with burrata and Champagne. The carbonara comes with langoustine and Iberian jowl, finished with a Sherry-cured yolk. The tasting menu is 345€, and a lunch menu (225€) runs from Wednesday to Friday. Il Milione, a longer tasting menu inspired by Marco Polo's travels, costs 490€.
Xavi Donnay leads pastry and was named Best Pastry Chef in the World at The Best Chef Awards in 2020. Joan Carles Ibáñez runs the dining room, and with maître Antonio Coelho he looks after a cellar of more than 800 wine references. A formal dress code applies.
