The story
Restaurant San Siro, at Oudkerkhof 9 in Utrecht, is an Italian kitchen that Gault&Millau scored 12.5 in 2026. The guide describes the restaurant as a fixture in the city centre for 18 years, with a cosy atmosphere and classic dishes given a modern twist.
Chef Tako Peters leads the kitchen, which builds on classic, handmade Italian cooking. Lekker500 singled out the sous-vide dorade, a lightly acidulated fish rather than a ceviche, and a terrine of veal brisket and bresaola with saffron sauce. The cod arrived generous, fresh and cooked through, served with glazed sauerkraut, smoky eel and cavolo nero cream.
The fig and date cake comes with fig ricotta ice cream, almond panna cotta and a fresh fig salad. The wine list is Italian only. A Gavi di Gavi from Piedmont suits the dorade, and a Verdicchio from the Marche, aged six months in wood, pairs with the cod.
