The story
Bij Erik is a modern French restaurant at Sluisplein 11 in Leidschendam, near The Hague, and holds a Michelin Bib Gourmand for 2026, the guide's mark for good quality, good value cooking.
Chef Max Grootendorst leads the kitchen, with a view of the small locks. Owner Erik Tas spends more time at 't Ganzenest in Rijswijk these days, and the team carries on without a visible gap. Gault&Millau scores the restaurant 13 for 2026. You choose how many courses you want, and the chef's menu is there if you would rather be surprised. Erik's signature is lightly seared duck liver on raisin bread, with sauerkraut brought round by an apple syrup jus.
The list runs to 350 wines, with 30 poured by the glass. It suits an aperitif or a drink on its own, and a bites menu covers the hours between lunch and dinner. Reviewers single out the cheese course, where the cheeses are named and explained.
