The story
Restaurant Renilde is a modern kitchen on the sixth floor of the Depot Boijmans Van Beuningen, at Museumpark 24 in Rotterdam. Gault&Millau awarded it 14.5 points for 2026, and the seasonal menu is the reason guides keep returning to it.
There is no fixed menu. Jim de Jong builds a new carte blanche menu each day from what the suppliers bring in, usually five or six courses. He works with regional and seasonal produce, and he leans heavily on vegetables. Sourdough from bakery Hoppe arrives early in the meal and is refilled as often as you like.
Recent guide reviews describe hand-cut sea bass tartare with sea beans and pickled cucumber, and a grilled entrecôte served with white asparagus and green herbs. Wild duck arrives with sautéed carrots and a shaved fennel salad. Acidity is a recurring thread, soft and refreshing rather than sharp. Desserts have included goat yogurt with berries and a dill and sorrel granité, and a parsnip parfait with sea buckthorn cream.
Glass walls on three sides look out over the city, and the ceiling is mirrored. Long wooden tables sit well apart, with fresh flowers and linen napkins. The wine list is European only, mostly organic or natural wines. A full vegetarian menu is available, but the dinner menu cannot be made fully vegan, sugar-free, salt-free, or free of onion and garlic, so flag dietary needs when booking.
