The story
Witlof sits at Lage Markt 79 in Nijmegen, where chef Jurgen Eikholt cooks a French kitchen with an eastern touch and hostess Rian Eikholt runs the room. Michelin lists the restaurant as Recommended for 2026, and Gault&Millau awarded it 13.5 the same year.
Jurgen Eikholt builds the menu around seasonal produce and changes it weekly. Dinner is a five-course surprise menu at 77.50 euros per person. The Saturday lunch comes in three, four or five courses. Vegetarian versions are possible, but the menu cannot be made vegan, so dietary wishes need to reach the kitchen in advance.
Nine tables sit close together in a living-room style space, and a moss-covered wall softens the sound. Rian Eikholt visits each table to explain the dishes and the wine. A recent Lekker500 review praised an oven-baked halibut under a creamy butter sauce, served with carrots, peppers and pak choi. Reviewers have also singled out the bread, baked to the house recipe, and the cheese course.
