The story
Prix de Rome is a modern French restaurant at Susserweg 1 in Maastricht, Netherlands, and holds a 2026 Michelin Bib Gourmand for good quality, good value cooking. The restaurant occupies a monumental building on the southern edge of the city, a short walk from the centre.
The kitchen describes its style as modern French, built on produce from suppliers, often regional, and delivered fresh. Chef Wouter Houten and his team cook at a consistently high level while keeping an eye on value. Guests can choose a three, four or five course menu, or order from the à la carte card, which keeps the house classics. Gault&Millau awarded the restaurant 13 points for 2026, and vegetarian versions of the courses are available.
The restaurant was recently modernised, and the result is a warm interior with comfortable chairs and considered lighting. In fine weather a large terrace gives guests the option to eat outside.
