The story
Café Sjiek, at Sint Pieterstraat 13 in Maastricht, is a Classic French eetcafé that earned a Michelin Bib Gourmand in 2026 for good quality, good value cooking.
The café has operated since 1982 and is known as the first eetcafé in Maastricht. The house describes it as less a restaurant than a living room, a small version of the French grand café. People come to eat, to enjoy a good glass of wine, or to talk.
Gault&Millau's 2026 entry, which awards a score of 12, describes a bistro kitchen that uses local produce, with Limburg asparagus and aged cheese among the dishes. In summer, the large outdoor terrace sits in the historic city park near the City Park.
