The story
De Bokkedoorns in Haarlem is a French restaurant at Zeeweg 53 in Overveen, set in the dunes beside a lake. The Michelin Guide awarded it two stars in 2026, and the kitchen serves a modern French menu built around seasonal produce.
Roy Eijkelkamp has led the kitchen as head chef since 2018. The restaurant describes its cooking as classic French with contemporary influences, and Gault&Millau (17.5, 2026) notes that the chef sometimes adds Asian touches. The owner, Pascal Beeren, is the third generation of his family to run the restaurant.
Recent reviews single out a poached lobster in tomato and pomegranate broth, and a rose-roasted lamb served with crispy polenta and smoked paprika cream. A monkfish course with roasted langoustine and a dashi-infused jus has also drawn praise. The menu runs à la carte alongside tasting menus of four to seven courses, with a vegetarian option.
The dining room was fully renovated, and a glass wall looks out over the dune lake. In good weather the terrace overlooks a small lake and a dune hollow, shaded by trees and parasols. A separate private room suits corporate dinners and celebrations, and free parking is available on site.
