The story
Bistro Pinot is a French and Mediterranean bistro at Wijdesteeg 10 in Grou, listed as Recommended in the Michelin Guide for 2026. Owner Tariq Gessesse runs the floor, and chef Mike van Dijken leads the kitchen.
Gessesse chooses largely organic wines and explains each wine and dish as it arrives. Van Dijken's French kitchen follows the classic bistro and gives it a slightly quirky, contemporary turn. Fixed wine lists give way to rotating suppliers, so what you pour changes from visit to visit.
There is no menu card. The Carte Blanche surprise menu runs from three courses at 47 euros to six courses at 85, with a wine pairing available for each length. Starters are often shared across the table. Lekker500 reviewers, who placed the bistro in their Top 500 for 2026, have praised oeufs mayonnaise, ray wing à la meunière with brown butter and capers, and veal loin with mustard compote. A separate bowl of fried potatoes did not last long.
The dining room feels like a living room, with Thonet chairs, dark wooden tables, white linen napkins, large wine coolers and candles. The harbor is a short walk away. French chansons play fairly loud, which some guests find charming and others would turn down a notch.
