The story
LIZZ, at Spieringstraat 1 in Gouda, serves French cooking in the former Weeshuis, the city's old orphanage. Michelin awarded the restaurant its first star in 2026, and Gault&Millau gave it 14.5 the same year.
Remco Kuijpers leads the kitchen. Michelin's inspectors praised his sensitivity on the plate and his technique. Spices and fruit add depth to Dutch produce, with a light Asian acidity running underneath. The wine pairings are a highlight of the meal.
The casual menu has three courses for €65, served at lunch and dinner on Wednesdays and Thursdays. The fine dining menu runs four, five or six courses at €85, €100 and €120. The chef sets the dishes each day around the season and the market. In warmer weather, guests can sit on the terrace.
