The story
Mei Wah, a Chinese restaurant at Leenderweg 86 in Eindhoven, is Michelin Recommended for 2026, and its contemporary Chinese cooking has been run by the same family since 1965. Taks and Anouk Yuen lead the room, and the menu draws on Cantonese traditions alongside new ideas.
Taks Yuen describes his kitchen as contemporary Chinese, with classic dishes given a modern edge. The restaurant says family recipes and techniques are passed down through three generations, and his travels across Europe, Asia and the USA shape new dishes. His sauces move between spicy and peppery, umami and sweet.
The Hakka sole is one of the most talked-about plates. The fish is filleted, and the bones are fried and served alongside it, with vegetables wok-fried in chicken broth. Plump oysters from the bites selection come with soy sauce and black beans, and fried shrimp dim sum is served with a fresh ginger sauce.
The wine list holds more than 1,000 entries, and there is a sake selection alongside it. Mei Wah also makes its own gin, XO sauce and sambals, so you can take a little of the kitchen home.
