The story
De Stroper is a fish restaurant at Wijnbrug 1, 3311 EV Dordrecht, on the historic canal beside the Wijnbrug. Gault&Millau awarded it 12 points in 2026, and the kitchen cooks almost exclusively with fish.
Kevin van Asch leads the kitchen, which builds its menu around fish with a French influence. Guests can choose a four- to six-course tasting menu, a monthly menu, or a few à la carte dishes. An earlier Lekker500 review noted that the fish is sustainably caught, and the restaurant supports The Ocean Cleanup.
Reviewers singled out sea bass with sweet-and-sour shallots, celeriac, pomegranate and shimeji mushrooms, finished with a fermented rhubarb vinaigrette. Halibut comes with a smoked butter sauce, sweet potato and beet. For dessert, the crème brûlée with vanilla ice cream won praise for its caramelized top, and the crème fraîche ice cream with apple and lingonberry compote stood out in another review. One critic found the bouillabaisse flat, so the fish plates are the stronger bet.
The dining room sits in a 17th-century building over the canal, with fish silhouettes on the walls and a small open kitchen. Owner and sommelier Mark Bakker oversees the wine list and service. The 2026 review found the young team friendly but still building experience.
