The story
Tante Koosje in Breukelen is a French restaurant at Kerkstraat 1, Loenen aan de Vecht, 3632 EL, and it holds one Michelin star (2026). The modern French kitchen works from a former farmhouse beside the village church.
Frisian chef Roland Veldhuijzen has run the kitchen since 2006. His classic French cooking is pure, with modern touches, and his sauces are where he is most exacting. He builds each sauce from the bones or fish bones of the product it accompanies. Gault&Millau gave the restaurant a score of 15 in 2026.
Guests choose between a multi-course Tante Koosje menu and a vegetarian menu, both of which change through the year. Reviewers have praised the lamb fillet with vadouvan and the monkfish with al dente lemon risotto, while the grilled Frisian suikerbrood with duck liver remains his signature. The dining rooms feel like a living room, with a sheltered terrace bright with flowers in summer and a wine cellar used for private dining.
