The story
't Amsterdammertje, at Rijksstraatweg 119 in Loenen aan de Vecht (Breukelen), holds one Michelin star in the 2026 guide for its international kitchen. Chef-owner André Gerrits cooks here, and his wife Geneviève runs the floor.
The couple took over the restaurant in 2009. André cooks in an open kitchen inside a monumental Dutch farmhouse, with Asian and French touches running through an international repertoire. Antillean flavors appear regularly, a nod to the family ties Geneviève brings. Lekker500 named the restaurant to its Top 500 again in 2026.
Dinner often opens with a world tour of amuses on a wooden plank. After that, guests choose from house specialties or the "Menu 't Amsterdammertje", which runs from four to eight courses and can also be ordered dish by dish. Recent reviews mention bluefin tuna with horseradish mousse, and dry-aged Dutch duck with blood orange and a brioche filled with braised leg.
Black leather-upholstered tables, plush armchairs and modern art give the dining room a sleek look. The chef's table runs straight out of the open kitchen. Upstairs, the Wine Table on the mezzanine seats up to 12 and looks down over the restaurant. The wine list leans toward organic and biodynamic labels, with thirty wines by the glass.
