The story
Simply Fish is an International seafood restaurant at Koninginneweg 212, 1075EL Amsterdam, in the Oud-Zuid neighbourhood. Gault&Millau gave it a score of 13 in 2026, and the kitchen's focus stays on fish, crustaceans and shellfish.
Chef Jan Rijk cooks with daily fresh and seasonal produce, so some dishes change with what arrives. The approach is direct: good fish, shellfish and crustaceans, handled with care. Lekker500 placed the restaurant in its Top 500 for 2026.
The lobster bisque is the house signature, served in a terrine so guests can take a second bowl. Shrimp croquettes come with homemade brioche and a chunky cocktail sauce. The skin-fried cod fillet with caramelized endive and mustard beurre blanc is a long-running classic. On Sundays the bar and tables turn to oysters, including Gillardeau and Irish Mor, at 3 euro each.
The dining room has tall windows, a light wooden floor and an open kitchen where oyster shells are on display. Tables are dressed with white linen napkins. In summer, guests can eat on the terrace.
