The story
ARCA is a restaurant and bar at Martelaarsgracht 5 in Amsterdam, opposite Amsterdam Central Station, serving Asian fusion dishes built on Portuguese cooking. Gault&Millau gave it 12.5 points in 2026. The room sits inside the art'otel Amsterdam hotel.
Chef Henrique Sá Pessoa holds two Michelin stars for his restaurant Alma in Lisbon. ARCA is his first restaurant in Europe outside Lisbon, and it applies his bold, modern Portuguese approach to the plate. The Michelin Guide lists ARCA as Recommended for 2026.
The menu centres on petiscos and larger plates meant to be shared. Highlights include arroz de lavagante, lírio, green gazpacho and coentros, with seasonal dishes made from fresh produce. Wine pairings are selected by the in-house sommelier.
The bar runs a signature cocktail menu called Course of Life, with eight drinks that each tie to a early memory. The concept draws on the art of Atelier Van Lieshout, whose work is part of the hotel's collection. Guests can also book the Gourmet Experience package, which pairs a hotel night with a tasting menu at ARCA.
