The story
Restaurant Bakboord, at Veerkade 10 in Almere-Haven, serves modern French cooking on the harbour basin overlooking the Gooimeer, and Gault&Millau awarded it 14 points for 2026.
Executive chef Lars Bertelsen leads the kitchen and builds the menu around Dutch produce. He points to the vegetables, meat, poultry and dairy from Flevoland farms, along with fish landed from the IJsselmeer and the North Sea. He sees those ingredients as a challenge to make even better dishes for guests.
The terrace looks out over the marina, where small boats come and go, and the dining room has the same wide view of the water. Guests can order à la carte, choose a two to six course menu, or ask for a vegetarian version. The menu also includes smaller plates for sharing, and the team suggests two guests order two or three dishes plus a potato, warm vegetable or salad. For lighter afternoons, the Bar & Bites menu pairs bites with cocktails, wine and spritzes.
