The story

The Eight Macau: Cantonese Dim Sum with Michelin 2 Stars (2026)

The Eight is a Cantonese restaurant on Avenida de Lisboa in Macau, and it holds a Michelin 2 Star rating for 2026. The room sits within the Grand Lisboa hotel, and the kitchen builds its menu around dim sum and shared plates.

Dim sum and sharing plates

The dim sum menu lists more than 40 small bites. Hedgehog-shaped char siu bao, lobster and truffle dumplings, and steamed rice flour rolls with Sicilian prawns share the table with crystal blue shrimp dumplings, shaped to look like the restaurant's goldfish emblem. The wine list is large, and the house also pours premium pu'er tea, which suits rich dim sum.

Room and finishing touches

The entrance is a hidden doorway, and a crystal chandelier hangs over the dining room. Hong Kong talent Alan Chan based the design on the number eight, a symbol of wealth and luck in Chinese culture. Diners receive warm hand towels before the meal. The Chinese mango soup, made with fresh mango, pomelo and strawberry, is a light way to end the meal.

The secret entrance sets a mysterious tone for The Eight, which continues to impress with every step. From the crystal chandelier to the warm hand towels before the meal, this is the crème de la crème of Cantonese dining rooms.Conceived by Hong Kong talent Alan Chan, the entire design concept is based on the fortuitous No. 8. In Chinese culture, it signifies wealth and luck — appropriate for this casino city. The dim sum menu comes highly recommended, featuring more than 40 types of small bites and sharing plates. Don’t miss the hedgehog-shapedchar siu bao(barbecued pork buns), lobster and truffle dumplings, steamed rice flour rolls with Sicilian prawns, or juicy crystal blue shrimp-stuffedhar gaodumplings, molded to resemble the venue’s signature goldfish. In addition to the enormous wine menu, you will also find a selection of premiumpu’erteas. This is the Chinese tea of choice for rich dim sum, since the earthy, fermented flavors are thought to aid in digestion. The chef’s version of mango soup — a traditional Cantonese dessert — is marvelous. It tastes surprisingly light, thanks to chunks of fresh mango, pomelo and strawberry.
