The story
Nihombashi Sonoji is a Japanese restaurant in Tokyo, at 2-22-11 Nihombashiningyocho, Chuo-ku. The kitchen earned one Michelin star in 2026 for high quality cooking, and it serves a single omakase course at lunch and dinner.
Every seat is at the counter, and the restaurant has no private rooms, so guests sit close enough to follow the cooking from start to finish. Lunch runs from 12:00 to 14:00 and dinner from 18:30 to 21:00. Dinner ends once the day's portions sell out, so later arrivals may find the course finished.
The Japanese kitchen builds its courses around seasonal ingredients, so prices move with the market. Guests with allergies or foods they avoid should say so in advance. Guests must be ten or older to dine, and they should arrive on time, since dishes are served to all guests at the same time. Gault&Millau gave the restaurant 16 points in 2026.
