The story
Narisawa stands at 2-6-15 Minami Aoyama, Minato-ku, and holds two Michelin stars in the 2026 guide for its fusion cooking. Chef Yoshihiro Narisawa builds each menu around Japanese, Chinese and French ideas, and the dining room has been part of Tokyo's top tier for two decades.
Narisawa grew up in a family of confectioners and left home at 19. He spent eight years in European kitchens, among them those of Paul Bocuse and Joël Robuchon. In 1996 he opened La Napoule in Kanagawa Prefecture, then moved to Minami Aoyama seven years later. The restaurant took its current name after eight years of service. In 2025 it returned to The World's 50 Best Restaurants at No. 21.
Satoyama describes the traditional Japanese way of living between farmland, forest and sea, and the chef calls his version "Innovative Satoyama Cuisine." The omakase menu shifts daily with the available ingredients. One signature is Temari, a recreation of a traditional toy: strips of root vegetable wrapped around a crab and scallop dumpling. Vegetarian and vegan menus are available on request.
The cellar leans toward Japanese winemaking, with pinot noir from Nagano, riesling from Iwate and aged Bordeaux-style blends from Yamagata. Sake is on the list as well. In 2023, for its 20th anniversary, the room was lightly renovated.
