The story
HOMMAGE is a contemporary French restaurant at 4-10-5 Asakusa, Taito-ku, Tokyo, where chef-owner Noboru Arai holds two Michelin stars in the 2026 guide for excellent cooking.
Arai was born in Asakusa in 1974. He trained in Tokyo restaurants, spent a year in France, and opened Restaurant HOMMAGE in 2000. The name is the French word for respect or tribute. His stated approach is "simple, minimum, precise," and he keeps refining new ways to present each dish. Gault&Millau has awarded the restaurant 16 points for 2026.
Every dish is chosen by the chef, and the course changes on most visits, so the kitchen asks guests about their previous meals. Lunch and dinner are served as set courses. The wine list focuses on France, with bottles starting around 7,500 yen.
