The story
CRAFTALE is a French restaurant in Tokyo's Meguro-ku, on the second floor at 2F, 1-16-11 Aobadai, and it earned one Michelin star in 2026. The name combines CRAFT, meaning hand skill, and TALE, meaning story, and the kitchen works with the care producers put into their ingredients.
Chef Shinya Otsuchihashi, born in 1984, graduated from the French campus of Tsuji culinary school in 2004. He worked at Georgian Club and Joël Robuchon Ebisu in Tokyo, then at the Paris neo-bistro Saturne before returning to Japan. He has led the kitchen since September 2015.
The room is plain and mineral, softened by wooden and stone tableware, many pieces made for CRAFTALE. The restaurant describes it as a warm space where guests can sense where each ingredient comes from. Gault&Millau awarded the restaurant 15 points for 2026.
