The story
Fujiya 1935 is a fusion restaurant at 2-4-14 Yariyamachi, Chuo-ku, Osaka, awarded two Michelin stars for excellent cooking in 2026. Its menu blends Japanese and Western technique and changes with the seasons.
The restaurant is built around the idea of eating the season (季節を食べる). Chef Tetsuya Fujiwara works with producers who supply ingredients daily, and dishes are sent to the table hot and freshly made. The spring menu lists golden eye snapper with cherry blossom sauce, clams with butterbur buds, and sea urchin with aosa seaweed.
The family's history began in 1935, when Fujiwara's great-grandfather opened a neighborhood eatery in Osaka. Its stew udon mixed Japanese and Western flavors and sold out daily. Gault&Millau gave the restaurant 16 points in 2026, and the family's Yoshoku-ya Fujiya continues alongside it.
