The story

TAKAYAMA, Kyoto: One Michelin Star Fusion and Italian Counter Dining

TAKAYAMA serves fusion and Italian cuisine at 2F, Good Nature Station, 318-6 Inaricho, Shimogyo-ku, Kyoto. The Michelin Guide awarded it one star in 2026 for high quality cooking.

Creative cooking from owner-chef Takayama

Chef Takayama owns the restaurant and builds his menu around carefully raised seasonal ingredients. He looks at each one from several angles, chasing both flavor and appearance. The house theme is "comfort plus excitement equals happiness." Gault&Millau scored the kitchen 15.5 in 2026.

The counter and the course

Seats are at a counter facing a fully open kitchen, so talking with the cooks is part of the evening. The Creative Experience course costs 30,000 yen with tax and service included. It runs about three hours and arrives as many small plates, so come hungry.
